OUR TOUR OF GEORGIA O'KEEFFE's HOME AND ABIQUIU, NM.
O'keeffe's winter home sits on the edge of the small town of Abiquiu and overlooks the painted hills of Ghost Ranch, where she kept a summer home.
Here is the entrance to O'keeffe's home. We were not allowed to take pictures beyond this point, but you can still see the painted hills of Ghost Ranch in the distance.

THE TOWN OF ABIGUIU, NM.
Abiquiu town center - the movie house.

The St. Thomas Church dominates the town center.

O'keeffe's garden walls as seen from the edge of town.
Looking back toward town and St. Thomas Church.

A few pictures of things we found as we walked the foothills outside of town.

Back on the main road we visited Bode's general store, O'keeffe's corner grocery store.(www.bodes.com/)

My sourvenir from Bode's.

  1. Georgia O'Keeffe called NM a 'lonely feeling place'. Had she been a southerner, she would have known the word she was looking for is lonesome. Maybe it is the lonesome that calls to me...
